FAQs

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to get from therapy.

It will also give you a sense of what it might be like to work with me.

How long does therapy take?

Therapy can be short term/time limited, or more open ended. This can be discussed at the beginning of therapy.

How does confidentiality work?

Maintaining confidentiality in therapy is important. This means that what is discussed in your sessions is not shared with anyone else. However, if I am concerned for your safety, or believe that a child or vulnerable adult is at risk, I would openly discuss if I needed to share this information.

It is a requirement that therapists receive regular supervision, which means they discuss their work anonymously with a supervisor to ensure they are providing high quality and effective therapy.

I adhere to GDPR data protection principles regarding storage and use of personal information.

What is the payment & cancellation policy?

Payment can be made via bank transfer, contactless card, or cash. I request that payments are made on the same day as your session.

My cancellation policy requires 24 hours advance notice. Appointments cancelled with less notice will incur the full session fee.

What is the difference between BACP & UKCP qualifications?

These are the two main professional registering bodies for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. UKCP training courses are typically more rigorous than BACP training courses, requiring the therapist to have had more client contact hours and personal therapy. I am UKCP registered.
